How and why it is called Brahma Kumaris or not?

Post17 May 2008

Can someone remind viewers how the title come to be known as "Brahma Kumaris".

Then how and when "Prajapita" got added.

Then how and when "Kumars" were included. Well, it seems Kumars were included from the beginning, so simply BWSU (without the K) would have been more appropriate ?

Then after 1969, how it was not called "BapDada Kumaris" (BK) or "ShivBaba Kumaris" (PBK) World Spiritual University ?

I tried to edit the thread heading to be more meaningful "How and why it is called Brahma Kumaris" but cannot do so ? As you can see this post is within 1 hour of the previous post.

I don't know exactly. It must have been post-1950 because it was Prajapati-brahma Kumaris from the 1930s until then.

I'd love to know how, why and by whom it was changed too. I think round 1965 we have posters popping up with Prajapita.

An awful lot came from trance messengers in the early days.

Brahma's name came from a trance messenger, not a formal naming by Shiva or Murli. I think the foundations were laid by interpretation of visions and trance messages rather than Murli explainations.

I think the early days were very much about the 'Wow' factor of people meeting Dada Lekhraj and going into trance and have visions and other mystical experiences rather than any sound knowledge base. Though BKSWU like to give the impression it was all about proper Murli classes from day one and was all explained in a comprehensive matter.

The nature of those mystical experience were also VERY different from the way they have be portrayed. Yes, I am sure there were channelling and mediumistic sessions, and children going into trance for 7 days BUT there was also "howling and screaming" going on as the women were overcome/overwhelm/whatever. As with everything else, it has not be honestly portrayed or documented. I took the initiative to actually go and read and speak to others involved at that time outside of the BKWSU control.

It adds to the picture of what was going on. It could have been just krias/spiritual crises or it could have been something spookier BUT that fact that it is NOT discussed and documented openly - along with all the rest - lays them open to even more doubt.
