|
|
On September 21, 1995, almost 10 ten years to date, there were reports of statues - or "murtis" to be more precise - of the Hindu deity Ganesh drinking offerings of milk. The first stories came out of India, but then it apparently started happening in other countries as well.
Of course, the scientific and skeptical minded immediately doubted the phenomenon and sought to debunk it. However, there are many seemingly rational people who swear that it did happen. Can anyone shed any light on this? Did any of you personally witness it? If not, do you know of anyone (reliable) who said that he or she did?
This may be an outstanding and rare case of a worldwide miracle. Indeed, if true, it may very well be a unique event. Assuming that it did happen, the question is why? What was the significance, meaning or message intended to be conveyed by this event?
Here are a few sites relating to this Ganesh milk drinking miracle:

Dear Atma,
This is a very interesting subject. I missed it in '95 but if it happened again I would definitely go and see for myself. But for now I guess I lean towards a non-miraculous explanation as given here -
One question is I think that all the milk-drinking statues were stone or clay - I wonder if there were any cases of drinking by non-porous statues such as metal. |
