The Streisand Effect refers to the unintended consequence of further publicizing information by trying to have it censored. Instead of successfully removing the information from the public, it becomes even more widely available than before as a backlash against the censorship attempt.

The Streisand Effect came to the fore in the BKWSU when a film on its hidden history made last year by Australian BK's was banned by the Australian BK Board of Management. This banning led to great interest from BK followers, with thousands of hits on websites and views of the film on the internet.
