5th Asia-Pacific Mediation Forum conference

Post19 Oct 2008

This is tempting ... anyone feel like writing a paper? Put the date in your diary now. Obviously Destruction is not going to happen before 2010 because the Brahma Kumaris are already booking out their conference halls and residencies. Are they hired for financial reward or is all their wealth being used to buy high level influence? This is the power of influence that money buys.

I find it interesting to compare it to our legal experiences with the BKWSU leadership and raise the issue of their own internal mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) policies ... oh, they have not got any. Except "have more Yoga", I suppose.

Well, may be by 2010 they will. From, here; Asia Pacific Mediation Forum.
5th Asia-Pacific Mediation Forum conference, India, 21–27 November 2010

The Fifth Asia Pacific Mediation Forum (APMF) conference will be held in India at the Brahma Kumaris Conference Centre, at Gurgaon (near Delhi). Firdosh Kassam is the Conference Convener and will be assisted by a Conference Committee in India and the APMF Executive and Steering committees. The Brahma Kumaris, Indian Law Ministry and the Judiciary will support the conference and participate in the program. Please put these dates in your diary and start planning to present a paper and/or workshop now!

The conference centre has very good facilities, has housed many international conferences and can accommodate up to 1000 participants. It is also close to other beautiful cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur and Agra for those who wish to travel before or after the conference. Interested participants can also be taken to Mount Abu to see the Brahma Kumaris World Headquarters and can book accommodation there.

Alcohol and smoking are not allowed at the conference centre; however, there are good hotels nearby for those who want to eat non-vegetarian food or to drink alcohol. There will also be lectures and classes early in the mornings for those interested in meditation and Yoga.

More information about costs and the ‘Call for Papers and Workshops’ will be available in early 2009.

This is the Om Shanti Retreat Center mentioned. Gosh, they are still rolling out MOUs, which were a big thing in the early days of expansions to boast about. Means not a lot really , a "memorandum of understanding" is not a formal agreement. More of a joint intended along a common line of action and does not imply a legal commitment.

They still claim "the long neglected science of RajYoga, the highest form of Yoga" even though it only started at some point after 1950.

Om Shanti Retreat Centre, Brahma Kumaris’ educational complex for higher learning, is a new Sister institution of the Praja Pita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya (Mount Abu, Rajasthan). It is fast developing into a life-elevating academy for men, women and children from all walks of life.

In view of its highly focussed missionary task of providing holistic excellence through spiritual wisdom in life, the Om Shanti Retreat Centre (ORC) may well be designated as a modernised concise edition of our ancient Nalanda University of the Magadha Kingdom (now Bihar) which was the crest-jewel of the educational institutions in the whole of Asia during the sixth and seventh centuries and which along with academic proficiency laid the greatest possible stress on the formation of character of its alumni.

Its parental organisation, the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya (PBKIV), which has been devoutly and assiduously working for the moral and spiritual uplift of mankind since 1936, has a global network of over 5,000 branches in 87 countries of the world. It is also a non-governmental organisation (NGO) member of the United Nations with consultative status in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as well as UNICEF.

Similarly, the ORC is a recognised Regional Resource Centre for Education in human values, of the Union Ministry for Human Resource Development for primary and secondary education. It is also recognised by the University Grants Commission as a centre of value-based education for university and college teachers. Besides, the institution (ORC) has a memorandum of understanding with Karnataka Open University for conducting certificate, diploma and degree courses in value-based education in distance mode.

Primarily, the ORC imparts practical and essential training to educators in the art of living as well as in the long neglected science of RajYoga, the highest form of Yoga. Besides, it also conducts value-based orientation courses for administrators, executives, businessmen, industrialists, scientists, engineers, jurists, mediapersons, women and others.

The ORC is a sprawling 28-acre complex of Brahma Kumaris Educational Society, constructed in tranquil, sylvan surroundings. It lies 70 km away from the din and disquiet of the national Capital, Delhi at Bhora Kalan on the Bilaspur-Pataudi road, 1 km off the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway 8. Its serene and soothing atmosphere lends amiability to all those who come here for learning and retreat.

The ORC comprises seven 200-seat seminar/training halls, an 800-seat auditorium, meditation halls, clean and cosy residential complexes with accommodation for 500 guests trainees, dining halls with a seating capacity for 1,000 persons, a library and kitchens. Besides construction work of a 2,200-seat auditorium, an art gallery, a research centre, a peace park and a children’s educational park is also in progress.

The ORC is also equipped with a vast solar power system, which is used for cooking and heating purposes.
Brahma Kumaris RajYoga Education and Research Foundation along with 15 other wings like the medical wing, scientists and engineers’ wing and the media wing, has been providing substantial assistance to the ORC in the smooth and successful conduct of various courses, seminars, camps, discourses and programmes on living values, RajYoga Meditation, Stress Management and Right Thinking, The Art of Happy Living, The Four Faces of Women, Values in Family Life, The Eight Powers of the Spiritual Travellers etc.

hi come on ex-l, get real here. What were you thinking? You must by now be fully aware that they will have charged a lot of money for the pre-booking of the retreat centre for this event and so if Destruction happens before 2010 then it'll be sheer profit they've made, with no expenses. You've got no business sense, sir!

Me? I am going to be booking myself into one of their stunning double bed jacuzzi suites and then invite my beautiful boyfriend to sun-tan naked on the balcony and drink his Long Island Iced Teas whilst I attend the forum ... :|

I cannot stop smiling since I read this.

BKWSU is declaring and promising herewith to give Raja Yoga meditation classes to the hangovers early in the morning.

They seem to be kicked out of the Court of Indra long ago. So they are opening their doors for money to the meat eaters and
alcohol drinkers. Very promising.
