This site may be encouraging for a number of folk, but it certainly is not in the easy range of 1-5 for people new to the site or who would like to try and respond to a new visitor's message. In addition, the lack of response to new visitors could suggest many things People using the rest of the site certainly take the time, and effort, to elaborate their thoughts, feelings, and reactions. Of course one could perceive these on a scale of emotionally vomitting to cognitively disenabled philosophical dsicusssion. In the between time, what about the direct questions, e.g., from visitors?

Hi Angel.........

Welcome to the sometimes not-so-subtle regions of XBK Chat.

You've used some relatively heavily loaded words here. Is there something you're upset about? I remember as a BK, 'emotionally vomitting' was how Dr. Nirmala and others referred to discussions of feelings other than serviceably positive ones, and of course 'waste talk' for anything unrelated to gyan and service.

For those of us with other models for growth, a wider spectrum of self-expression about one's situation can be healthy. In fact, constraints on expression of important self issues among the BKs has led many to leave, including at least one that I know by suicide--and that after weeks of desperately trying to get an audience with Dadi Janki.

Some have used this board to frankly discuss hurts they have experienced through typical BK responses to their emotionally charged issues. Here we are willing to discuss something as 'negative' or 'unserviceable' as child abuse within the Brahma Kumaris organization. Similar discussions were deleted from an official BK chat site (Oz).

So, welcome to the chat. Feel free to browse. If there is something you want to clarify for yourself and you decide to take the risk of posting something about it here, be prepared for a wider variety of responses than you may get among BKs.

Ants need social responses of their peers to survive; they will soon die if isolated. Humans also need a certain quality of mirroring to maintain their sanity. Some find it in the murli, in the company of BKs, in the words of senior brothers and sisters. Others in responses of friends, lovers, co-workers. Still others in speaking of their deepest issues to the silent attentive audience of a 12-step group. And a few out of multimillions, in the glowing computer screens of XBK Chat. Mix and match to suit yourself.

Hope that helps.

Joel, do you mean the forum of the australian bk's? I was a moderator there quite a time. I started a lot of controversial topics there and in the end I realised that I was not soothed anymore as a moderator on that website for obvious reasons. The funny thing is that no one would be able to provide real answers. I touched on fundamental issues of our beliefs at that time. The power of logic must not be understimated.

ps: great post you made Wink I mean that

Yes, eromain posted a link to it in the thread on child abuse here on XBKs. That link is dead, and I only find fluffy stuff on the Ozzie BK forum. Maybe I missed something.

Logic is great, but doesn't necessarily help a person be creative, set their own challenges. Logic can tell me what is wrong with, for example, the US government's decision-making process, but doesn't illuminate a path to bring change.

I know because I am good at evaluating logical considerations, but sometimes slow in taking decisions; most significant challenges involve a leap into the unknown, don't you think?

btw, glad to hear a bit more about you. Your posts can seem slightly.... incorporeal...uh... in that I hear more about your philosophical experiences and less of the real-world events that I can anchor your ideas to. Have you got much Air/Gemini in your chart? (Me = moon/Taurus, plod plod)

Thanks for that.

I know I'm a bit lazy at the moment in my posts ... not much details
but you can read some older ones Wink

btw, you probably don't have access to the bk section on the ozzie forum ... that's why you find nothing interesting
You know bk's, they always have something to hide, even on a futile forum ... god's exclusive children have many many secrets
But I have a secret too: god has been dead for a long time

Omshanti. The discussion forum on the bks aussie website seems to have been deleted. Recently when I tried to view the discussion forum section I was unable to do so.
